The stated purpose of The Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) is to foster transparency between the general public and the federal government. But FOIA can also be an important tool for federal contractors. Skillful use of FOIA can help contractors make themselves more competitive in future procurements. Though no requester, no matter how skillful, can learn confidential or proprietary information through FOIA, a well-stated FOIA request can lead to a treasure trove of useful information that contractors can use to bolster their future submissions. In this presentation, Matthew Moriarty will talk about how FOIA works, minus all the jargon.
