Important Notice: The purpose of the webinar is to discuss the Department of the Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. SBIR/STTR programs are competitive programs for small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization.

These programs are not for companies that sell products that are commercially available. It is for companies that specialize in research and development of new products that are not currently available for sale in the open market.

The Department of Navy is Looking to Increase the Number of Small Businesses (Especially Underrepresented Firms) Participating in the SBIR/STTR Programs.

The University of Houston Procurement Technical Assistance Center is pleased to team with the Department of the Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs on April 22, 2021 from 10:00AM – 11:30AM CST to introduce attendees to the DON SBIR/STTR Programs and their upcoming opportunities.

The target audience for this event is certified SDB, ED/WOSB, SDVOSB, and HUBZone companies in the following NAICS codes:

333249, 333992, 334118, 334220, 334413, 334511, 334515, 335314, 336992, 339113, 511210, 541330, 541360, 541511, 541512, 541714, 541715, 541720, 611710

(These NAICS codes represent the most common NAICS codes assigned to prior DON SBIR/STTR projects.)

The mission of the Department of the Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs is to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of Federal research funds in critical American priorities to build a strong national economy. The goal of Department of the Navy programs is to deliver innovative technology solutions to the Naval warfighter by applying the agility, dedication, and ingenuity of small business entrepreneurs to the research and development (R&D) needs of the Department of the Navy. Domestic small businesses are eligible to participate; underrepresented small businesses in the following categories are strongly encouraged to participate:

-Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)

-Economically Disadvantaged / Women-Owned Small Business (ED/WOSB)

-Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)

-HUBZone
